About Thomas Gray

Thomas Gray is an average-sized primary school. The last OFSTED inspection March 2012 judged Thomas Gray to be ‘a good school with behaviour particularly outstanding…where pupils positive attitudes to learning contribute significantly to the schools success’

Thomas Gray has undergone significant change in recent years including amalgamation and transfer to a single site staff. The Investors in Pupils assessment report stated that ‘the changes have been managed calmly and sensitively by the Headteacher, Mrs Rimmer and all the staff. ‘Parents and governors confirmed that a vibrant thriving unified school has emerged as a result.’

The school holds a number of local and national awards including – National Healthy Schools, Activemark, Investors in Pupils, Full international schools status.The children during a recent independent consultant assessment stated;

“Thomas Gray Primary is a good place to be and that the staff work hard on our behalf.”

“I enjoy working on excellent projects like the photography books.”

“I feel important and valued and my ideas are listened to.”

Hot News!

Great news for Thomas Gray as our school has secured funding to totally revamp an outdoor area. Year 6 children approached o2 to ask for help in creating a new outdoor learning and nature area. As a result we are now very excited about the Thomas Gray  ’Meadow project’ which will enhance our school grounds and enrich the outdoor learning opportunities for our children.

On Saturday the 2nd March, we need lots of adult help to help prepare the areas concerned. The school will be open from 9 till 5 pm where all the hard work will be done. On Sunday the 3rd March, we will have a grand opening ceremony with Juice FM providing music, entertainment and an outdoor barbeque. We are also hoping to have a local celebrity to attend our official opening!

WE NEED LOTS OF ADULT HELP FOR SATURDAY 2nd MARCH!

The only skills needed are hard work, enthusiasm and a smile! Refreshments will be provided for all volunteers so if you can spare some time please sign up at the school office.

(Please note that the Saturday is for adults only due to the nature of the work. On the Sunday all members of the school community are invited to attend our opening ceremony!
