This term in the Phoenix room we have enjoyed reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. As part of our topic work we have constructed our own iron man and we are going to create our own animation using an app called ‘imotion’ on the ipads. Naturally we are very excited and hope to showcase our animations on the website so watch this space.

We have learnt about the planets in our solar system and considered whether there is really anything out there in space.

Autumn Term

In the Phoenix Room we work with the children to encourage and develop positive and caring behaviour.  Our topic work is cross curricular and this term we have based our work around pirates and treasure. We have discussed what we consider treasure and what makes something valuable to us. We found that it doesn’t necessarily have to cost a lot it can be treasured by us because of who gave it to us or what it means to us.

Working In the Phoenix room is is helping the children grow in confidence and to recognise their own self worth.

This is taught in an informal setting beginning with our shared lunch around the table.
